Topic Info

Homelessness isn’t just an urban problem, and it isn’t going away by itself. What are the root causes and how do we address them? In the first session we examined this topic with the goal of understanding whose problem it is and what, if anything, motivates us to care about and to improve the situation.

In this second session of our two-part series on homelessness, we’ll ask what we can and should we do to address the problem, which some call a crisis. What’s stopping us from ending homelessness now? Where do compassion and personal responsibility overlap as they relate to homelessness? What happens if nothing is done?

Pre-reads for this second session include possible solutions to this problem as well as resources to help us understand the roots of the problem.

Please come prepared to share personal experiences related to homelessness and the relationship between compassion for others vs personal responsibility.

*This topic was selected by CPL Members through our #VirtualDemocracy Poll. Thank you to all who participated.
